Here be dragons!

I have always been interested in learning about notable Mizzou alumni (e.g., Sam Walton, Jon Hamm, etc.). One famous graduate, Margaret Weis (BA ‘70 Creative Writing and Literature) has authored numerous books to have appeared on the New York Times bestseller list (over 30 according to Gemini; that is a LOT!). Best known for her work on the Dragonlance books in the 80s (with Tracy Hickman), her books have sold over 25 million copies and have been translated into multiple languages.

Our Mizzou magazine has a regular section listing books authored by alumni. In Feb 2025, I was reading one of her newer books and I emailed the folks at the magazine to ask why I have not seen any of her books ever come out in that section. After a few more email messages, they decided to write a feature article on her which came out in Dec 2025 (written by Mara Reinstein). The full article can be found here.
